Former Chairman and CEO

William D. Green is the recently retired chairman and chief executive officer of Accenture.

In addition to chairing the board of directors, Mr. Green worked closely with the leadership team on Accenture’s long-term business strategy. Mr. Green also led Accenture’s Skills to Succeed corporate citizenship efforts.

During his tenure as CEO and then as chairman, Accenture grew revenue from US$13.7 billion to US$27.9 billion, increased its workforce to 260,000 employees, expanded its global footprint and dramatically enhanced its competitive leadership position.

Mr. Green has actively served on initiatives that seek to address some of the world’s most pressing issues, including the United Nations’ Secretary-General’s High-Level Group on Sustainable Energy for All, the Initiative for Global Development, the Business Council and the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council.

Mr. Green continues to be deeply involved in many business groups supporting education in the United States and around the world, including the Business Coalition for Student Achievement, where he serves as co-chair, the United Nations’ Secretary-General’s Education First initiative, where he is a steering committee member, and the Global Business Coalition for Education, where he is an advisory board member.

Mr. Green attended Dean College and is a member of its Board of Trustees. He received a bachelor of science degree in economics and a master of business administration from Babson College, as well as an honorary doctor of laws.

The W.L. Mellon CEO Speaker Series brings CEOs and executives together with Tepper School students for high-level exchanges regarding leadership, world affairs, and business strategies relevant to today's global marketplace.
