Ambiant Reception Masthead-Group

Students with a Non-Technical Background

Don't make the mistake of pigeonholing our program into "quant."  Our graduates are among an elite group of leaders who have mastered the art and science of business leadership, and they distinguish themselves by combining their talents and instincts with our academic experience.

We believe that management education is at a crossroads. Traditional ways of doing business simply will not work for next-generation leaders. That's why we emphasize sharpening your analytical know-how. The ever-increasing pace of technology, globalization, and complexity is creating a standard for performance that requires executives to solve problems that have never been seen before.

At Tepper, we seek diversity in all dimensions and welcome applications from talented and motivated individuals, regardless of your academic or professional background. Students from a non-technical background benefit from the analytical tools they learn in the Tepper program - and they certainly contribute to the Tepper community as much and as often as their more technical colleagues.

Student Voices

While I had no problem convincing people that I had the "soft skills" to succeed in the business world, my analytical skills were a harder sell. Tepper's training in analytical decision-making skills perfectly complements my creative background.

-Justin Krauss, Tepper MBA 2009
Former GBA President
BA in Theater Arts

Before starting at Tepper I never imagined I would be able to calculate NPV, discount a cash flow, or build an optimization model for a real-world business problem.  I came to business school to improve my quantitative skills, and not only have I already accomplished that goal, but I have had an incredible amount of fun in the process.”
