Business Communication Full-Time Faculty Position Opening at Assistant Teaching Professor Level in Teaching Track

Primary professional responsibilities: Teaching in Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business Masters and Undergraduate programs and service to the Tepper Business School and the wider Carnegie Mellon community. Teaching will focus on business and management communications in both written and oral practices. Full-time teaching track faculty members teach a minimum of 12 units per year, equivalent to six semester-long courses.  

Starting date: Fall of academic year 2015-2016.

Salary: Commensurate with academic preparation and professional experience.

Academic Qualifications: Ph.D. in business communications or related discipline (e.g., english, rhetoric, communication studies, etc.) with at least three years of teaching experience. ABD candidates may be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the school and communicate and work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Candidates must demonstrate a potential for and commitment to teaching excellence. Candidates with prior business communications teaching, additional business experience, and/or coursework at the MBA level are preferred.

Junior Faculty Tenure-Track Position in Business Analytics

The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in Business Analytics. The ideal candidate will be a main player in the school's analytical approach to business, a long-standing differentiator of the Tepper School business education. The ideal candidate will be substantially involved in new research and educational initiatives across disciplines that concern the use of data for decision making. Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree at the time of appointment (fall 2015) in business, computer science, information systems, operations research, statistics or another related field. Applicants also are expected to have a strong commitment to, and proven record of, research excellence involving cutting-edge analytical methods in business. 

The Tepper School and Carnegie Mellon have a strong culture of collaboration across disciplines. This open environment provides unique opportunities for highly innovative work. We expect a “data for decision making” focus to have a large and synergistic overlap with other research areas such as marketing, service and supply-chain management, healthcare management, finance, etc.
