Transfer Information

Students seeking transfer from other universities:

The Tepper School Undergraduate Business Administration Program does not accept transfer students from other universities.

Students seeking transfer from other Carnegie Mellon programs:

Carnegie Mellon students may apply to transfer to UBA in the Fall and Spring semesters, with applications normally due at mid-semester break. If you are interested in transferring during Spring 2014 you may attend an information session to learn more about the Program and about the transfer process. All sessions are held in the Undergraduate Lounge, Tepper 132, on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 12:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, February 17, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

Application Qualifications

To qualify for transfer, you must:

  • have at least a 3.0 cumulative QPA;
  • be currently enrolled in, or have completed, 21-256 (Multivariate Analysis), or as a substitute, 21-259 (Calculus in Three Dimensions);
  • must not be on academic probation or suspension in their current college;
  • be in your second semester if you are a first-year student.

Application Process

To apply, you must complete the following:

  • Have an advising appointment with an academic advisor in the UBA Program prior to applying. You need to bring printouts of your unofficial transcript and your academic audit showing the Business Administration major. The available advisors are:
    • Dr. Stephen Pajewski (sp4g), Tepper 137;
    • Ms. Rubab Jafry O'Connor (rjafry), Tepper 135.
  • Submit application for transfer (pdf found here) for Spring 2014 transfer no later than Friday, March 7, 2014 at 3 p.m. Please turn in your completed application, along with printouts of an unofficial transcript and academic audit showing the Business Administration major, to the UBA advisor with whom you met for your advising appointment.
  • If accepted into the UBA program, you must attend a transfer orientation meeting before your transfer becomes official. Meeting dates and times will be determined later in the semester.


  • Please refer to our academics section for curriculum requirements. Transfer students do not take the required 70-100,  Introduction to Business, but substitute it with an upper-level business elective of their choice;
  • transfer opportunities beyond the end of the sophomore year are severely limited.
  • enrollment in undergraduate Business Administration courses is not restricted to Tepper students; however, transfer acceptance is not contingent upon, nor favored by, prior enrollment in Business Administration courses.
  • transfer students should complete the requirement for Professional Service Project 70-201 within three semesters of their transfer date.
  • for class of 2012 and beyond - once admitted, students must complete a business track and a minor.
