PITTSBURGH- The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University greeted prospective female MBA candidates this week for: Women at Tepper School Visit Day, a program designed to familiarize prospective female students with the school and to connect them with outstanding female faculty researches and administrators. This is the first of two such “special” events which will be held during Winter/Spring 2012 and is part of a series of diversity initiatives for women, aimed at attracting and advancing women at the Tepper School.

“It is hoped that this introduction to our strong and supportive community will translate to continued diversity in our MBA program,” said Colleen McMullen, executive director of Diversity Strategies & Programs. “Our goal is to attract the best and brightest female MBA students and we would like to increase the overall percentage of women in our MBA program, which currently stands at 30%. This event has proven to be valuable for students in choosing to pursue their graduate education with us.”

During Women at Tepper School Visit Day, attendees participate in a class visit, reception with current students and staff members, lunch and Q&A with faculty, campus tour, evaluative interview and an information session lead by the school’s admissions team.  Guests also learn how the Tepper School is working in concert with the Forté Foundation, a consortium of major corporations, top business schools, and influential nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to substantially increasing the number of women in business.

“I enjoy meeting our perspective female candidates and the format for the event truly creates an atmosphere of learning and togetherness,” said Anne Dolan, assistant director of masters admissions and coordinator of this year’s event. “It is also great to have the opportunity to share, in person, the interesting research and teaching at the school along with the opportunities for women in our MBA program and beyond.”

All prospective MBA students are encouraged to visit the Tepper School. Additional information can be found at: Interviews and Campus Visits.
