PHOENIX— Sridhar R. Tayur, the Ford Distinguished Research Chair and Professor of Operations Management at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, has been elected as a fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), an international scientific society for professionals in advanced analytics. Tayur was recognized as part of the 2012 class of INFORMS Fellows this week during the organization’s annual meeting and conference.
The Informs Fellows Award recognizes persons who have made outstanding achievements in research and education involving the fields of operations research and management science and for real-world application of the profession’s techniques. Tayur’s personal recognition is for research on inventories and supply chain management, developing new methodologies, implementing solutions in manufacturing, logistics and supply chains and creating a market for enterprise inventory optimization software.
Tayur joins a distinguished group of faculty at the Tepper School who have been recognized as INFORMS Fellows Award winners:
Joining Tayur as a member of the INFORMS Fellows class of 2012 is Heinz College Dean Ramayya Krishnan, who is recognized for his leadership and innovation in academia and in practice, as well as leadership in INFORMS, linking operations research and management sciences with information systems in research, education, and management.
