A Tepper School tradition

The Graduating Class Gift Campaign is an important tradition and allows graduating classes to make a significant impact at the Tepper School. Over $150,000 has been raised during the past six years to support the class gift.

Why a class gift campaign?

The Tepper School Class Gift Campaign provides students with an opportunity to reflect on their time at the school, come together and show class pride, and help ensure that future classes have a positive experience. Believe it or not, tuition only covers about 50 percent of the Tepper School’s operating budget. The school’s fundraising efforts help fill in the gap every year.

During each class gift campaign, students raise funds for a designation of their class's choice. Past designations have included scholarship support, equipment upgrades, capital projects and endowed funds. High student giving rates show alumni, recruiters, prospective students and other institutions that current students believe in the school, increasing the value of a Tepper School degree. And most importantly, class giving is a stepping stone to establishing a tradition of philanthropy at the Tepper School, ensuring the success of the school long after each class has graduated.


Last October, the full-time MBA Class of 2014 kicked off their class gift campaign, Build Your Legacy, to raise funds for a space in the new Tepper School building. To do so, the students set a goal of reaching $30,000 by June 30, 2014 and $200,000 by their five-year reunion in April 2019. Notable results of their campaign include:

  • Record class participation: 99.5 percent
  • Highest dollar amount raised: nearly $34,000
  • Largest alumni match challenge: secured an additional $10,000 toward goal
  • Three student-led challenges: added $3,750 to total dollars raised
  • Largest number of leadership donors (gifts of $500+): 15
