Applying For Financial Aid- U.S. or Permanent Resident

2009-2010 Financial Aid Application Steps

It is not too late to apply for financial aid. We process financial aid on a rolling basis. Please be aware of your semester/mini deadlines for we are not able to remove late/penalty fees.

*We process financial aid on a rolling basis. Federal regulation permits us to process loans up until the last day of class in your award period. Please keep in mind that your student invoice must be paid in full by the semester/mini payment deadlines or you will be subjected to penalty fees.

Step 1 File your federal income tax return. You will need data from your federal filing to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.)

Step 2 Request your federal PIN so that you can complete your FAFSA electronically www.pin.ed.gov.

Step 3 Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for Federal Stafford Loans and other financial aid. To ensure that we receive your FAFSA information, you will need to include our school code: E00074

Step 4 Complete a Tepper School of Business Financial Aid Application (.pdf) and fax it to 412-268-2810. This provides our office with more detailed information about your needs and resources.

IMPORTANT: Your FAFSA information and Financial Aid Application are required in order to prepare your award letter that will outline your Federal and Alternative/Private loan eligibility. Once we receive both your FAFSA and Tepper Financial Aid Application, please allow 5-10 business days and you receive your electronic award letter that informs you of your loan eligibility.

Step 5-a If you are applying for Federal Stafford and Federal Graduate Plus Loans, you must complete the Master Promissory Note and required entrance counseling. You can use your federal PIN to sign your MPN electronically. When completing the Stafford Loan Master Promisorry Note (MPN), you will not be asked to provide a loan amount. The loan amount is provided in your award letter. You will authorize your loan amount/s on the Tepper Loan Processing Form.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Step 5-b We have developed a list of participating Federal Stafford, Federal Graduate Plus and Alternative/Private Education loan lenders for students who would like guidance in selecting loans and the lender/s, review our list. If you choose to utilize a private loan you cannot apply any earlier than 180 days prior to the start of classes.

Step 6 Complete the Tepper School of Business Loan Processing Form (pdf). This form is required in order for your loans to be processed. Fax the completed form to 412-268-2810.
