Online MSCF Technical Requirements

Students in the Online MSCF program must have the following technology in order to participate in classes and exams:

Technology Requirements

  • A small projector.
  • A Bluetooth Headset.
  • A High-Speed Internet connection.
  • A Scanner with an automatic document feeder.

Windows:

  • Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2 GHz or better
  • Windows XP SP2 or newer. (Windows 7 preferred)
  • Graphics: OpenGL 1.2 or later
  • Web camera (built in or stand alone) (HD USB Camera preferred)
  • Headset with microphone

Macintosh:

  • Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2 GHz or better
  • OS X 10.5 Leopard or later
  • Web camera (built in or stand alone) (HD USB Camera preferred)
  • Headset with microphone
  • Windows installed (via Boot Camp or VM) for windows-only applications.

Additional Information

HD Web Cam:

  • Used for participating in classes, allows the professor to see you clearly.
  • Pick one that will work with your computer, and can be positioned to your liking.
  • Example: Logitech C510 or C910.

Bluetooth Headset:

  • Used for presentation courses.
  • Pick one that you’ll be comfortable wearing while doing a presentation.
  • Examples: VXI BlueParrott Roadwarrior or the Plantronics Voyager PRO

A small projector:

  • Used for presentation courses.
  • If you do not have a light-colored wall, consider purchasing a screen.
  • Examples: Mini AV LED Digital Projector, Epson VS200 or Epson EX 31

A Scanner:

  • Used to submit homework and tests.
  • During tests, the scanner that you use must be tethered / connected to the computer that is monitoring your exam.
  • The scanner needs to have an Automatic Document Feeder.
  • Example: HP ScanJet 5590

A High-Speed Internet Connection:

  • DSL or faster speed.
  • Used to connect to classes, view videos and partake in exams.

Important note about your internet connection: Some protected networks may require additional configurations if certain ports and protocols are blocked. If you are not the administer of your network, you may have to involve someone from your IT department.
