Leading Economists Available for Fed Comment

WHO: Allan Meltzer, professor of political economy, and Marvin Goodfriend, professor of economics at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon.

WHAT: Comments/perspective related to the 10/31 meeting of the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee.
 
WHY: Professor Allan Meltzer is considered the preeminent historian of the U.S. Federal Reserve and an expert on U.S. monetary policy.  In addition to being an advisor to the Congressional Budget Office, he is a former member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and has served as a consultant on economic policy for the U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve, the World Bank and foreign governments.

Professor Marvin Goodfriend is a leading authority on monetary policy and central banking, and serves as chairman of the Gailliot Center for Public Policy.  He spent many years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where he served as senior vice president, policy advisor and director of research.
