PITTSBURGH – Teams from top-tier business schools across the country will compete this weekend at the 12th International Operations Case Competition to be held at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. Amazon.com is providing the case this year at the annual event sponsored by the Operations Management Club at the Tepper School.
The competition begins Friday, Nov. 9, 3:30 to 5 p.m., with a panel of industry experts hosted by Amazon.com, titled, “Lean in the Supply Chain.” The competition case will be presented at 6 p.m, and teams have until midnight to analyze the business problems in the case and develop their strategic solutions.
The competition will be judged by a panel of industry executives. Teams will be judged on the soundness of their reasoning, their analysis of the problem and the strength of their business assessment. First round presentations begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10; finalists present at 1:30 p.m. and winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. The first, second and third prizes are $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.

Last year’s winner was a team from the Owen Graduate School of Management; a team from the Tepper School placed second; and a team from Darden School of Business placed third.
