Kalpesh Kapadia Provides Tepper School Fellowship in Honor of Randy Pausch

Student Recipient Emulating Character Traits Described in Pausch’s “Last Lecture”to be Named at Student Dinner.

PITTSBURGHKalpesh Kapadia, a 1999 graduate of the Tepper School of Business, is providing a full-tuition fellowship in honor of Carnegie Mellon computer scientist Randy Pausch, who died last month of pancreatic cancer. Moved and inspired by the messages of the late Professor, who captured the world’s attention as he publicly shared his battle, Kapedia is donating $47,800 for the fellowship.  

The fellowship will be awarded to a second-year Tepper MBA student a who exemplifies the qualities and traits described in Professor Pausch’s September 2007 “Last Lecture” at Carnegie Mellon. This lecture, which later became the basis of a best-selling book, provides insight into the importance of honesty, integrity, determination, passion and love for your work, among other qualities that empower individuals to fulfill their dreams.

The recipient of the fellowship will be announced at a dinner held by the Tepper School welcoming new and returning students on September 6, 2008.

Kalpesh Kapadia is the chief investment officer of Indusino Research and Management, a Palo-Alto based hedge fund. Prior to founding Indosino, Kapadia was a managing director, senior semiconductor analyst and director of research at the investment banking firm C.E. Unterberg Towbin. In 2004 he was named the “number one stock picker” in the Wall Street Journal’s “The Best on the Street" Survey. In addition to his M.B.A. from the Tepper School, Kapadia holds an M.S. in Industrial/Systems Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a B.E. in Production/Mechanical Engineering from Bombay.
