Alumni Board Member Katherine Kohatsu Honored by Tepper Women in Business

Katherine Kohatsu, MBA '05, BS/CIT '97, Alumni Board member and Director in the Healthcare Strategy practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has been recognized by the Tepper Women in Business club (TWIB) as Alumna of the Year for 2015.

Kohatsu was chosen for the award – founded in 2013 to honor alumnae whose achievements serve as a source of inspiration for women in business – following a long-standing commitment to TWIB and the Tepper School of Business, and a consistent display of excellence in her career.

Kohatsu’s work has taken her across a wide spectrum of industries and clients, including travel and transportation, insurance, industrial products and, most currently, healthcare. Post-graduation she joined Diamond Management and Technology Consultants, which was acquired by PwC in 2010. Kohatsu currently helps clients adapt to the changing landscape of the healthcare industry as it relates to the passing of the Affordable Care Act. She is primarily focused on the changes within Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Since graduating, Kohatsu continued her involvement with the Tepper School as an active participant of the Alumni Reunion Committee and an Alumni Board Member. In this position, Kohatsu and her fellow board members advise the dean and the Alumni Relations Office on ways to engage and develop the alumni community. The board also provides opinions, from an alumni perspective, on major school initiatives.

“I welcomed the invitation to join the Alumni Board because I saw an opportunity to build upon the Tepper School’s alumni community,” said Kohatsu. “I also wanted to help increase the prestigious stature of the school. It has been a fantastic experience working with a distinguished group of dedicated alumni.”

Kohatsu has also demonstrated her support for TWIB and the Tepper School community by becoming involved with PwC’s events on campus over the years that encourage women to strive for success in the workplace. Last fall, she participated in a “Dress for Success” event, where she shared advice with other women regarding how to create their own professional style.

Tepper Women in Business was designed to help women in business increase their confidence, skills and knowledge to become successful business leaders. TWIB provides members with career-networking opportunities and professional development and educational workshops, and coordinates social activities and mentoring to create a supportive environment for women to thrive in.
