BIOGRAPHY

Tim Derdenger is the holder of the Frank and Helen Risch Faculty Development Professorship in Business (AYs 2014-2016) and an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Strategy at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business. He is an expert in the areas of High-Technology Strategy and Celebrity Endorsements in Sports Markets. His focus is on creating marketing strategies for high-tech firms that employ a platform business model. Professor Derdenger’s high-technology interests are in bundling, exclusivity, technological tying, and vertical integration. When researching sports markets he is also interested in understanding when and why celebrity endorsements should be included in a firm’s marketing mix. He has publications in Marketing Science, Management Science, and Quantitative Marketing and Economics. At Tepper, he teaches an MBA elective on High Technology Strategy and the core MBA Marketing course. Prior to Carnegie Mellon, Tim earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California and a B.B.A. from The George Washington University. He is also an avid golfer and a former four year collegiate golf scholarship recipient.
