Located 3 miles from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon and 6.3 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh is the tree-lined community of Highland Park. Named for and inclusive of the 380-acre park of the same name, Highland Park offers residents quiet living in a mix of well-spaced duplexes and single-family Victorian, Tudor, and Colonial-style homes. The area is serviced by multiple bus routes, and parking is largely private.

The neighborhood’s proximity to Highland Park and the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium make it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Established in 1889, Highland Park is located in the northern part of the neighborhood. Its lush grounds appeal to runners, bikers, and walkers. The park also features tennis and volleyball courts, swimming pool, picnic areas, playground, and formal gardens. Located within the park, the 77-acre Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is ranked one of the top children’s zoos in the U.S. It’s also Pennsylvania’s only public aquarium. In total, the zoo and aquarium exhibits are home to more than 8,000 animals.

Highland Park is serviced by several locally owned retail shops and restaurants, many of which are located on Bryant Street. Diners can feast on Thai at Smiling Banana Leaf, traditional Italian at Joseph Tambellini, or gyros at At the Park, then end the evening with coffee and pastries at Tazza D’Oro.
