Deepak Ahuja, MSIA ’93, served as chief financial officer of Tesla Motors from 2008 to 2015. One of Tesla’s longest-serving executives, Deepak played an important role in the company’s rise from startup to highly-valued electric car maker — with global presence in 20+ countries, a large manufacturing footprint in California and annual revenues of about $5 billion in 2015. He was the company's first finance chief and helped to guide it through its initial public offering, in addition to raising funds that have fueled the company's growth.
During Deepak’s tenure, Tesla began manufacturing its own car, the revolutionary Model S, and introduced the SUV-style Model X. It also established its presence as an innovator in battery technology, introducing PowerWall products for the home and breaking ground on the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada.
Deepak holds an MSIA from Carnegie Mellon University; a MS in materials engineering from Northwestern University; and a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering from Banaras Hindu University in India.
