Shiyang Fang received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He majored in Mathematics and Economics, and also earned a certificate in Computer Science. Shiyang’s interest in finance was inspired by his summer internship in 2012 at People’s Insurance Company of China – Asset Management Co. Ltd., where he was part of the research team in fixed income. During the summer of 2013 and his senior year, Shiyang was involved in applied math research projects related to fluid dynamics. He developed numerical schemes using Python, MATLAB, and Mathematica to study the collective behaviors of microorganisms and the hydrodynamics of low-Reynolds-number flow. Upon the completion of the MSCF program, Shiyang hopes to leverage his quantitative and programming skills to pursue a career in quantitative finance.
