Dateng Lin graduated in 2010 with honors from Sun Yat-Sen University majoring in Information and Computational Science wherein he got a silver medal in an international collegiate programming contest. Following graduation, he went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and pursued a Master of Philosophy in Mathematics with a full scholarship. During that time he learned stochastic calculus and also acted as a teaching assistant for undergraduate’s mathematics courses. He graduated in 2012 and worked as an Assistant Consultant in ERM, a global provider of environmental consulting services, where he was engaged in developing physical models and improving software packages. He then worked for a start-up hedge fund in Hong Kong, where he developed various trading models for futures, designed databases and participated in writing trading systems. Furthermore, he passed CFA Level I to enhance his knowledge in finance. By joining the MSCF program, he hopes to receive systematic training in financial engineering and seeks a career in trading or quantitative research.
