Tian (Jerry) Ming graduated magna cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and actuarial science in 2014. During his freshman year, Jerry passed three actuarial exams, which triggered his interest in quantitative finance. He interned at Everbright Securities in Shanghai, China, where he conducted macroeconomic analysis and investment research. Later, he joined the Travelers Companies as an advanced analytics intern in Hartford, CT. During that internship, Jerry programmed an automated modeling dataset validation tool, which was frequently used by the modeling team, and also improved the existing predictive algorithms. Jerry joined the MSCF program to gain deeper understandings of quantitative finance and the financial market. Upon graduation, he seeks a career in quantitative research or risk management.
