Me (Alice) Shen received a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Michigan in 2014. With some mathematical and programming tools, she modeled Blackjack games with continuous scores and tossing unfair coins. Upon graduation, she received the Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics Award. During her internships at Changjiang Securities, Wuhan and at Beijing Financial Assets Exchange, she focused on the impact of disturbing market events, such as the 2011 Syrian war tension and the 2013 Chinese interbank liquidity squeeze. Market turbulences made her notice the power and complexity of financial derivatives. In summer 2014, Alice interned with a financial engineering team at Guotai Junan Securities, Shanghai, researching fund derivatives strategy. Alice has joined the MSCF program in New York to learn more about the front line culture of the finance industry and its quantitative aspect. She is seeking a career in trading or risk management.
