The Tepper School, alongside Carnegie Mellon University, have quickly become among the fastest growing entrepreneurial programs in the United States:
Based upon an analysis of the five-year Association of University Technology Managers data (FY08-12), we rank first among the Association of American Universities in the number of start-ups per research dollar.
- We have helped to start more than 1,000 companies across industries such as robotics, software applications, energy, health care and finance. These companies create jobs across the United States and internationally with the highest concentrations in Pittsburgh, Silicon Valley and India.
- While we average 25 new companies each year, in 2013 Carnegie Mellon's award-winning professors and students produced a record number of 36 new companies.
Our innovation ecosystem contributes to an environment in which top talent generates and pursues groundbreaking ideas, and then transforms those innovations into viable commercial businesses. The work that originates here — from software engineering and robotics to advanced materials, design and everything in between — is driven by people whose thinking knows no boundaries.
Our students work across campus and have access to many resources for aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators both at Carnegie Mellon and in Pittsburgh:
