Career Treks

Career Treks provide an opportunity for our MBA students to visit prominent companies across the country, meet with Tepper School alumni and expand their professional networks.

Career treks allow Tepper MBA candidates to utilize their fall and winter breaks to expand their learning beyond the classroom and into their industry of choice. Some past trek destinations include Silicon Valley, New York City, Seattle and Boston.

Jointly organized by the Career Opportunities Center and professional student clubs, career treks are designed to provide students with a first-hand perspective on the organizational structure, operations, work culture and career paths for MBAs at the companies visited.

Students also gain the opportunity to forge new connections with recruiters, Tepper School MBA alumni working in those areas and senior executives. The attendees typically come away from a trek with a wealth of new knowledge about the industry and a stronger understanding of what it takes to succeed in that business.

Most company visits incorporate Tepper School MBA alumni, many of whom attended these treks when they were students, who network with the students and share their post-graduate experiences. Career presentations and campus tours, where possible, add to the experience. In addition to benefitting the students, the treks offer alumni an opportunity to remain active in the Tepper School community.

A few of the companies that students have visited include:

  • Google
  • Amazon
  • Bristol-Myers Squibb
  • Philips Healthcare
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Cisco
  • Bank of America Merrill Lynch
  • Microsoft
  • JP Morgan
  • PwC
  • Bain
