Per G.H. Lofberg on Opportunity

Per Lofberg is the executive vice president of CVS Health Corporation, the largest pharmacy health care provider in the nation. Formerly, he was president of Caremark Pharmacy Services, the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and specialty pharmacy division of the company. He joined CVS Caremark in January 2010 from Generation Health, an early-stage company focused on genetic testing benefit management, where he served as president and CEO.

Lofberg has a deep understanding and background in health care, and is widely respected for his knowledge and understanding of the PBM business. As president of Caremark, he had responsibility for all facets of the PBM business. In his current role, Mr. Lofberg advises Larry Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Health, on strategy matters and business development, and serves on the executive committee of the corporation.

Prior to launching Generation Health, Lofberg was co-founder and CEO of Merck Capital Ventures, a venture capital company primarily funded by Merck to invest in emerging health care technologies. Lofberg also served as chairman of Merck-Medco Managed Care LLC, which later became Medco Health Solutions. Before Merck-Medco, Lofberg was a partner at the Boston Consulting Group and oversaw the firm’s worldwide health care practice.

Today, Lofberg serves on the boards of several private companies, including PHT and Cytel. Lofberg holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University, and an undergraduate degree from the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden.
